Business Service

What We Do

We offer composting services to restaurants, cafes, delis, offices, barbershops, and more. If you have compostable material, we'll transform it into a beautiful garden amendment!

We are a compost processing service, and we offer weekly or twice-weekly collection at no extra charge. Basically, you pay us a monthly fee to turn your "feedstock" of food scraps and other organics into finished compost. Pick up is every Tuesday & Friday, and we drive through just about every part of town!

Acceptable materials include raw and cooked food, paper and bioplastic food containers, shredded paper, napkins, and hand towels. See the full sort list here .  If in doubt, inquire--we'd love to include you!

We sell our finished compost by the 5 gallon bag, and customers have first dibs. Please understand that we are a new, small complany and takes time to make good compost. Customers get an email with specifics when finished compost time comes.

We've come to find that every business is different, so a basic price structure doesn't work very well. Here are some things that can affect a rate:

Volume (Our old, helpful standard)

Weight/Moisture (Really wet stuff needs to be mixed with a lot of carbon on our end.)

Bucket cleaning service  (Do we leave you clean buckets each week or just grab your bags and go?)

Collection spot  (Is the stuff put at the curb or do we go through security or ride an elevator to get it?)

Our most basic rate is $35 a month. It includeds pick-up service once a week for 10 gallons. We keep track of your landfill diversion and provide a report to you each month. Please contact us for a custom quote for your office, cafe, or restaurant!

Hosting an event? We've got your back.  We can provide sort stations or compost bins for fundraisers, weddings, and events of all kinds! Inquire about options and rates.

Next, set up your collection system based on our recommendations.  Post the stickers and signs we provide and fill your staff in so everyone is in the know. (We are also happy to meet with your staff!)

Finally, collect your food, bioplastic, and paper scraps. We'll pick up your buckets weekly or twice-weekly. If you create more or less material than anticipated we can easily adjust your pick-up schedule and rate.
Compostable Packaging
Curious About
Compostable Packaging?

Look for the BPI logo!

The Biodegradable Products Institute tests products to ensure that they are in fact compostable. Simply search their approved products by company or item.

We have successfully  composted several types of bioplastics, including plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery.

Unfortunately,  many items that look compostable (like to-go coffee cups and Dixie paper plates) are actually lined with regular old plastic. These items are basically trash that will need to be sorted out of the finished compost product. Many items that are labled "biodegradable" are not actually compostable.

Our take at Juneau Composts is that it's always best to carry your cup and pack a spork. If you must use disposables, find ones that are labeled as certified BPI compostable
